this is the second of three mock up cakes, styrofoam inside , sugar on the outside its done in fondant, royal icing, and gum paste (used for the bow) i wanted to make it look as different from the previous cake (atlantis cake) as possible! no color, no animals....no flowers....nada!
yes i have one. its a little unorthodox. take one bag of marshmallows and put it in a large plastic bowl. microwave until marshmallows puff way up, like double volume. remove from microwave and add about 3 tspns of coconut extract. add any coloring u wish to use at this stage. stir marshmallows and begin adding powdered sugar. it will look stringy and sticky and very messy at this stage. keep working in powderd sugar until it is firm enough to turn out on a counter top heavily coated with more powderd sugar. keep kneading powderd sugar into it until it is the consistancy u want or until ur arms fall off. jk it is now ready to roll. u must know that this recipe is different from commercial fondant in that it is more stretchy and less likely to crack but it is also more sticky to handle. and it taste's alot better though. have fun!
oh! and one thing i forgot make sure u let the marshmallows cool a little bit before u start adding the powdered sugar or u will get lots of lumps! your welcome!!
