Wow! Fabulous gallery! What an incredibly multi-talented lady you are! I particularly covet your ability to cut gems - I would so love to be able do that!

You should try it. A soft stone like turquoise can be cut on sandpaper by hand. Shape it on a rough grade and then smoothe it down on a series of finer and finer grits. At about 1200 grit it will start to look polished. But go til about 3000 grit for a decent finish.

My hubby has lots of different grades of wet and dry paper that he uses when he's paint spraying - could that be used for stones?
